A Note from Brigid Hubberman, Children’s Reading Connection

Words are everything! Words are essential nourishment for a child's social, emotional, and intellectual development, and at the same time they are also fun and wonderful and enrich and shape our lives.

The Word Collector by Peter H. Reynolds, is a fantastic children’s picture book of the highest quality – in story and illustration, in message and meaningfulness, in inclusivity and positivity, and in pure delight!

And then it is so much more!

To say that I am in love with The Word Collector  would be an understatement. Yes, I love every word, every illustration, and every single page of this brilliant book. But what I love the most is the potential I see in it for changing the lives of children and families, and the extraordinary impact I see in it for being the catalyst for a word movement.

The Word Collector sparks falling in love with words in a most remarkable and lasting way. I believe The Word Collector can be the connector for helping children and families, schools, and communities understand and appreciate the power and pleasure of words.

I am convinced that the owning this book in hardcover, knowing it deeply, and having the words of the story in the  heart and mind, will shape children's lives in profound ways as they fall in love with words and understand their pleasure and power.
